U.S. President Joe Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin needed to be pushed back, even as the tough sanctions imposed on Moscow led to higher prices and political risks for him in the election. He said this in an interview with AP.
The American leader noted that he acted as a commander in chief, and not as a politician who cares about elections.
“I am the president of the United States. This is not about my political survival, but about what is best for the country. No kidding. <…> What happens if the strongest power, NATO, <…> pass by?»— asked Biden.
The President warned of the threat of chaos in Europe if “Russia continues to move unhindered deep into the continent, China dares to seize Taiwan, and North Korea becomes even more aggressive with its nuclear ambitions.”
